Gardens of Jersey

Today, we will meet our garden guide, Brona Dore, at Dublin airport for our direct flight to Jersey.

On arrival we will enjoy a visit the Eric Young Orchid Foundation, a unique centre which has a magnificent display of orchids. Winner of the Gold medals at Chelsea Flower Show, this scientific centre is dedicated to both breeding orchids and protecting rare species. 

Following our visit we will transfer to our centrally located hotel in St. Helier, the main town of Jersey and within a short walk to the beach. 

We will enjoy a welcome meal together in the hotel this evening.

Depart our hotel this morning for a visit to the private garden of Mrs Lea ‘Le Clos du Chemin’, where Mediterranean plants flourish around the house while the lower terraces have shade-loving species and a hidden Italian garden.

We will then transfer to St Peter’s Lifestyle and Garden Centre for shopping and free time for lunch (at own expense).

Join us this afternoon for a visit to 'Les Aix', the garden and gallery of the artist, Ariel Whatmore, full of interesting plants and colour schemes, a maze in the form of an artist's palette and formal box hedges around an old Manor House. We’ll enjoy some included refreshments before returning to our hotel. 

Evening free to explore the restaurants of Jersey.

Free morning to explore the wonders of Jersey, shop in St. Helier or perhaps visit the Elizabethan Castle.

We will depart our hotel in the early afternoon for a visit to Creux Baillot Garden, the wonderful garden created by Judith Queree and her late husband, Nigel. Consisting of three main areas, The Bog Garden, The Dry Garden and The Woodland Garden, Judith specialises in growing Clematis and has one flowering in her garden on every day of the year. 

Evening free to explore the restaurants of St. Helier.

Depart our hotel for a morning visit and refreshments at the lovely garden, Domaine des Vaux, the garden of Anne Binney, surrounding a traditional Jersey farmhouse, this garden consists of an intimate courtyard and terraced garden with wonderful woodland valley walks. Before our departure we'll savour some delicious refreshments!

Our next visit today is to the wonderful Lavender Farm where lavender is collected from the surrounding fields, dried and distilled into numerous products which are sold in their lovely shop. We will have some free time here for lunch (at own expense).

Our final visit of the day is to Samares Manor and Garden; these unique gardens were created in the 1920s by millionaire shipping magnate and philanthropist, Sir James Knott. The herb garden was the inspiration of renowned garden designer and author, John Brookes. Its unique design can be best appreciated from the viewing platform high above the garden, adding an extra dimension to this unique collection of culinary, fragrant, cosmetic and medicinal plants. We will enjoy a private guided tour of the Manor House before returning to our hotel.

Following an early breakfast, we will check out of our hotel for our transfer to the airport and our return flight to Dublin.
