Travel to France
Arrive in Bordeaux
Upon arrival in Bordeaux, we will be met our local guide who will assist us in the transfer to Bordeaux port to join over River Cruise. Settle into our cabin and explore the range of facilities on board our ship as we embark on our 7 – night superior cruise along the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. Sit back with welcome cocktail in one of the lounge areas, followed by a tasty welcome dinner.
Cadillac – Sur – Garonne
Guided tour of Château de la Brède
Today we will arrive in Cadillac-sur-Garonne is a historic bastide town, situated on the right bank of the Garonne River. Join us for a guided tour of Château de la Brède a beautifully preserved medieval castle birthplace of Montesquieu. We will explore the fortress-like château, with its impressive shape reflected in the surrounding moat.
Cussac Fort Medoc
Morning sailing along the Garonne River.
Today we can relax onboard as we sail towards Cussac Fort Medoc, take advantage of the many facilities on board the ship as we sail along the Garonne River.

In the afternoon we will enjoy an excursion to the famous Medoc wine country, here we will sample some of the wines from this famous region.
Cruise to Blaye
This evening, we will set sail to Blaye and join the Dordogne River.
Explore Blaye – Bourg
Panoramic tour of Route de la Corniche
This morning join us today as we take a panoramic tour along the famed Route de la Corniche, the right bank of the River Dordogne. Following our tour, we will visit the Citadel of Blaye a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perched above the Gironde estuary, this fortress once guarded the river route to Bordeaux and today offers stunning views, historic ruins, and a charming village atmosphere within its walls.
Bourg
In the afternoon we will sail down the Dordogne River, we will arrive at Bourg, situated on the rocky hill overlooking where the Dordogne and Garonne rivers meet to form the Gironde estuary. Here will have to opportunity to take part in the guided walking tour of the Citadel of Bourg, a historic site that offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's rich past.
We will be docked overnight in Bourg.
Libourne & Saint-Émilion
Arrive into Libourne
Today we arrive at Libourne, a historic town in the Bordeaux wine region.
Explore Saint-Émilion with a guided tour.
Join us a for a guided tour of the medieval village of Saint-Émilion—a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most beautiful and historic wine towns in France. After our tour relax in this picturesque village and enjoy some of the famous red wine with a view of the beautiful vineyard landscapes.

Sail towards Bordeaux
Today we set sail for Bordeaux, take advantage of the many facilities on board our superior ship or enjoy a pastry demonstration class as we sail along the Dordogne and Garonne rivers.

Join us this afternoon for a guided walking tour of Bordeaux here we will have the chance to explore the heart of Bordeaux, stroll through its elegant squares and past magnificent cathedrals and historic landmarks. Discover the city’s rich history, stunning 18th-century architecture, and lively café culture as we walk through UNESCO-listed neighbourhoods and iconic spots like Place de la Bourse, Rue Sainte-Catherine, and Bordeaux Cathedral.
Arcachon’s Bay
Explore Arcachon’s Bay
Let’s explore Arcachon’s Bay, join us today for a full day guided tour to the charming seaside resort of Arcachon, famous for its beautiful beaches, fresh oysters, elegant 19th-century villas, and the nearby Dune du Pilat—the tallest sand dune in Europe. After our tour we will have some free time to explore more of this town why not try the local delicacy of oysters and wine.
Tonight let’s come together and enjoy a farewell dinner onboard our ship.
Return Home
Free Time & Transfer to the Airport
Its time to say goodbye after a full week of delights abroad your superior Avalon ship. After breakfast, we will be met by our local guide and will have some free time in Bordeaux (dependent on flight times) before transferring to the airport for our flight home. Its time to start thinking where to go on our next river cruise holiday!
