At Travel Department, we want to give staff members the opportunity to support worthy causes close to their hearts.
This year our team has chosen ALONE, as our Charity Partner. ALONE is a national organisation that enables older people to age at home. Their vision is an Ireland where older people can age happily and securely at home and are strongly connected to their local communities.
So far, we have raised nearly €700 through fun events like Bake Offs and a Bingo night. Our next event will be a kilometre challenge during the week of September 25th– October 1st to mark the International Day for Older Persons.
The team are looking forward to getting involved directly with the charity through additional volunteering activities.

Bake Off Day
Some members of our team put their culinary skills to the test and baked some very tasty treats! Everyone got to sample the goodies, make a donation and vote for the best Travel Department baker. The title went to Aine from our Products team who baked the most delicious lemon sponge cake.
Bingo Night
Our charity bingo fundraiser was a great success. The tension built as people got full lines and a full house. We don’t think we have ever had such a quiet office whilst the last few numbers were called. Much fun was had by all.

We want to be honest with our customers and have them feel safe in the knowledge that as a business we are putting together tours we can all be proud of. One of the ways we do this is by ensuring that the places we visit do not negatively impact the local wildlife.
Resourceful
While we realise, that as a travel company we will always be contributing to carbon emissions, we have the resourcefulness to cut back in many other ways. In our office and for those working from home we have a policy in place to measure and reduce energy and waste consumption. This includes leveraging technology to cut down on paper waste.
Expert
We are great at curating magical experiences for our clients. However, what we are not experts at is sustainability. So, we have teamed up with the experts to help us achieve our goal of counteracting the effects of travel on the environment. We also partner with local charities to improve the lives of those around us and so our staff can reach out to the community and give help where it is needed.
