Brasov’s main square, Piaţa Sfatului, is situated in the heart of the medieval quarter and it is one of the finest Baroque squares in Romania. Here we can visit the 15th century Town Hall, with its quaint Trumpeter’s Tower on top, and the Lutheran Black Church, a symbol of the city, and named the “Black Church” after the a devastating fire in 1689 (entrance included), it is also the largest Gothic church between Vienna and Istanbul.

Visit to Bran and Dracula’s Castle

Watch Icon Afternoon

Later we uncover more on an excursion by coach to Bran, to visit the legendary and famous Dracula’s Castle, a national monument, and landmark in Transylvania. Bran Castle was created by the Saxons in the late 14th century to defend Brasov from invasion by the Turks. Its interior displays rich medieval furniture, which Queen Marie purchased in the 1920s when the castle was used as a royal residence. It is said that Bram Stroker used this castle for his inspiration, for the character of Dracula.

After our visit to Bran Castle and some time to enjoy the markets below, we return to Brasov and enjoy an evening at leisure.
