Your Guided Group Holiday To Romania
Travel with us on this incredible holiday to Romania, the largest of the Balkan nations; a land of stunning mountain scenery, unspoiled landscapes and historic towns. On this week-long holiday, we'll experience two very different sides of this astonishing country, from traditional rural life and medieval streetscapes to the modern and rapidly changing character of the buzzing capital, Bucharest. We’ll travel through the fertile countryside of the Transylvania region and marvel at the spectacular backdrop of the Carpathian Mountains. Visit some of its picturesque medieval towns, with highlights including the impeccably preserved hilltop citadel of Sighisoara, Brasov’s Saxon walls and Baroque town square, the colourful streets of Sibiu and the Royal Castle at Sinaia. Of course, no stay in Transylvania would be complete without a visit to the imposing fortress of Bran Castle, better known as Dracula’s Castle! Top off your stay in Romania with two nights in its fascinating capital, Bucharest, where we can explore the impressive Old Town and admire the 17th & 18th century Orthodox churches, art nouveau villas and neoclassical palaces.

Travel to Romania
Arrive in Cluj-Napoca
Upon arrival in Cluj-Napoca, you will be met by your local guide who will assist you in the transfer to your hotel, with a panoramic city tour en-route. In the evening, a welcome dinner in the hotel is included.
Guided Excursion to Sighisoara
After breakfast, you will depart Cluj-Napoca for Sighisoara, Vlad Dracula’s birthplace, by coach enjoying a panoramic tour of Targu Mures en-route. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour of the UNESCO-protected old town and discover its citadel, nine towers, cobbled streets, burgher houses and ornate churches. To this date, Sighisoara is considered one of the most beautiful and best-preserved medieval towns in Europe.
Transfer to Sibiu or Sighisoara
In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to your hotel in Sibiu or Sighisoara with dinner included.
Sibiu & Brasov
Sibiu Walking Tour
Enjoy a morning guided walking tour of Sibiu’s medieval centre with entrance to Brukenthal Museum included. In the Upper town, you can discover most of Sibiu's historic sights, whereas the Lower town is lined with colourful houses on cobblestone streets and surrounded by imposing city walls and defence towers overlooking the river Cibin.
Transfer to Brasov
In the late afternoon, you will continue your journey to Brasov where you will be based for the following three nights.
Brasov & Bran
Brasov Walking Tour
This morning you will take a city tour with your local guide to discover the major and most beautiful sights of Brasov. Brasov’s main square, Piaţa Sfatului, is situated in the heart of the medieval quarter and it is one of the finest Baroque squares in Romania. Here you can visit the 15th century Town Hall, with its quaint Trumpeter’s Tower on top, and the Lutheran Black Church (entrance included), the largest Gothic church between Vienna and Istanbul. Entrance to the Museum of First Romanian School is also included, which displays some of the first textbooks written in the Romanian language and printed in Brasov back in the 16th century.
Bran and Dracula’s Castle
Today’s excursion ends with a visit to the famous Dracula’s Castle in Bran. This castle was created by the Saxons in the late 14th century to defend Brasov from invasion by the Turks. Its interior displays rich medieval furniture, which Queen Marie purchased in the 1920s when the castle was used as a royal residence. Return to Brasov for a free evening to further explore or relax.
Today will be free for you to relax at your hotel or take in some shopping and sightseeing in Brasov’s charming old town. Your guide will be able to advise on places of interest for your free time. It may be possible to visit places outside of Brasov like Prejmer a fascinating church. Prejmer is the largest and best preserved fortified church in South East Europe, dating back to the early 12 hundreds. This tour is sold locally and needs a minimum of 21 people. Please ask your guide locally if possible (extra charges apply).
Sinaia & Bucharest
Sinaia Walking Tour
After breakfast, transfer to the town of Sinaia, known as the “Pearl of the Carpathians” due to its magnificent mountain scenery and Royal Castle. Here, your guide will take you on a walking tour with entrances to Peles Castle and Sinaia Monastery included.
Transfer to Bucharest and City Tour
Afterwards you will continue your journey to Bucharest with a guided city tour en-route to your hotel. A tasty dinner at your hotel is included on the first night.
At Leisure or Optional Excursions
Free Time in Bucharest
Today can be spent at your leisure sightseeing and shopping in Bucharest. Consider taking a stroll along Bucharest’s most famous historic avenue, Calea Victoriei, passing the George Enescu Museum, housed in the beautiful Cantacuzino Palace, and the Art Collections Museum.
Optional Excursion - Wine Tasting & Snagov Monastery
Wine Tasting & Snagov Monastery (where Dracula (Vlad Țepeș) is Buried). On your day of leisure venture outside of Bucharest to enjoy some wine tasting and the beautiful Snagov Monastery, located on Snagov lake. Depart from your hotel around mid-day, during your excursion you will have the opportunity to sample some wine, enjoying three types of wine, followed by a light and modest lunch (included). Also included is a visit the fascinating small Snagov monastery. Allegedly this is the final resting place of Vlad Țepeș “Dracula”. Return to Bucharest in the evening. Please ask your guide for more details for this excursion. Minimum of 10 people required.
Optional Excursion - Parliament House
Parliament House. Depart early from your hotel to visit one of Romania's most important buildings, with its beautiful ornate architecture, including many levels, marble floors and crystal chandeliers. This finest creation took over 13 years to build. It is also one of the heaviest, most expensive administrative buildings and is also the second largest building in the world, after the Pentagon in America! Today it is considered a controversial building as many people died during the construction of the Parliament House, however it is well worth visiting this work of ingenuity. This excursion consists of a numerous amount of stairs and it is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Please ask your guide for more details. Minimum of 10 people required.
Transfer from your hotel, with guide assistance, to Bucharest airport for your return flight home.
