Your Guided Group Holiday To Northern Portugal & Santiago de Compostela
Travel with us to experience an authentic slice of Portuguese life as well as one of Spain’s most famous pilgrimage sites on our 7-night holiday to Northern Portugal and Santiago de Compostela. We’ll have the chance to explore the buzzing streets of Porto and enjoy an authentic wine tasting in one of the city’s port cellars followed by a relaxing boat trip along the beautiful Douro River. Discover the historic towns of Braga, the oldest Christian city in Portugal and home to The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte; and Guimaraes, the birthplace of the first King of Portugal. Finally, we’ll travel northwards across the Spanish border to Santiago de Compostela and enjoy a guided tour of the city’s historic centre including a visit to the Cathedral of Santiago, the final stop on the famous pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago.
Please note: The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is open and under renovations in preparation for the Pope’s visit in 2021.

Travel to Portugal
Arrive in Porto
Upon arrival in Porto, you will be met by our local representative at the airport before being transferred to your hotel. As you travel to your hotel, your guide will share some information about the local region, suggest activities for you to enjoy and answer any questions you may have. You will have the rest of the evening to settle into your hotel and get to know your surroundings.
Breakfast is included each day of your tour in your hotel.
The first five days in Porto are on Bed & Breakfast Basis. The last two nights of your stay in Spain, dinner will be included in your hotel.
Full Day Guided Tour of Porto
After having breakfast at your hotel, depart for a full day guided excursion in Porto. In the morning you will enjoy a half day guided city tour of Porto including the historical centre with a visit to St. Francisco Church, the Ribeira Quarter and the Stock Exchange Palace (entrances for St. Francisco Church and Stock Exchange Palace included). Then you will have free time for lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy a wine tasting in one of the city's port cellars followed by a relaxing boat trip along the beautiful Douro River.
Free Time in Porto
You will have today at leisure to relax at your hotel and explore the town and its surroundings at your own pace. Enjoy some of the sights Porto has to offer, a stroll along the waterfront at Cais da Ribeira. Take a ride on the Funicular dos Guindais from the lower to upper part of the city, visit the Porto Cathedral, or why not visit some of Porto's Museums.
Guimaraes & Braga
Guimaraes and Braga Guided Excursion
After breakfast at your hotel, depart for a full day excursion to Guimaraes and Braga. In the morning enjoy a visit to Guimaraes, which is associated to the birthplace of the Portuguese nation and its first king. You will enjoy its medieval historic centre, which is an UNESCO World Heritage site. You will have free time for lunch. Then continue to Braga, known for being the oldest Christian city in Portugal and visit its historic centre and The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus before coming back to your hotel.
Explore Porto at Your Own Leisure
Today will be a free day, for sightseeing and shopping in your own time. Spend some time trying the local cuisine and fine Port wine that the region is famous for. Visit some of the baroque churches and Beaux-Arts buildings which are a major attraction in the historic neighborhood of Porto.
Travel to Santiago de Compostela
Transfer to Santiago de Compostela
Depart for your hotel in Santiago de Compostela, in Spain, where you will stay for two nights. This evening, join your fellow travellers for dinner at your hotel.
You will have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city and enjoy its unique atmosphere, before joining your fellow travellers for dinner in the evening.

Half Day Guided Tour of Santiago de Compostela
After breakfast at your hotel, depart for a half day guided tour in Santiago. You will discover its historical centre, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and enjoy a guided visit to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (entrance included). You will have free time for lunch, shopping and sightseeing before returning to your hotel, to join your fellow travellers for your evening meal.

In preparation for the Popes visit in 2021 the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is now under renovations.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred from your hotel to Porto airport for your flight home with guide assistance.
